Das erste Thema im April: Konfuzius und Jesus
Confucius and Jesus
A Japanese Baron, who was visiting America, and who in addressing the Bethany Sunday-School in Philadelphia, said that the teachings of Confucius and Jesus were the same, and that there was no need to change his faith.
John Wanamaker, the superintendent of the school and the Baron’s host at the time, answered, after he had given an appreciation of the high morality that Confucius taught.
“There is this vital difference between Confucius and Jesus. Confucius is dead and buried, and he will remain in his grave until Jesus Christ tells him to arise. But our Christ’s grave is empty. He is living. He is here in this room today.”
To which we say Amen, and wish to add our strong conviction, that in this case the American was right and made clear the fundamental significance of Christianity.
Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.
(Matthew 18,20)
